All Shook Up |
| |
As
the disco music of ABBA has audiences dancing in the aisles at Mamma Mia!
and the Billy Joel songbook fuels Twyla Tharp's electric hit Movin' Out,
Broadway turns its ear to another pop icon with this brand new musical comedy:
the one, the only Elvis Presley! All Shook Up is not a biographical revue
of the late, great star of the screen and pop charts, but instead a musical
inspired by and featuring the songs made famous by Presley. Somewhere in
middle America in 1955, one girl's wish and a surprise visit from a mysterious
leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger will lead a small town to discover
the magic of romance and the power of rock and roll. This irresistible new
musical features 24 legendary Elvis classics including “Heartbreak Hotel,”
“Love Me Tender,” “Don't Be Cruel,” “Can't Help Falling in Love” and “All
Shook Up.” All Shook Up will have a world premiere engagement at Chicago's
Cadillac Palace Theatre from December 19, 2004 through January 23, 2005
prior to landing at Broadway's Palace Theatre in February, 2005. Palace
Theatre 1564 Broadway. Tuesday-Saturday - 8PM, Wednesday & Saturday -

Avenue
Q |
| |
Avenue
Q is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New
York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that
the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q; still, the neighbors
seem nice. There's Brian the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fiancée
Christmas Eve; Nicky the good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod--a Republican
investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict
called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant
named Kate. And would you believe the building's superintendent is Gary
Coleman?!? (Yes, that Gary Coleman.) Together, Princeton and his newfound
friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in
life. Avenue Q debuted at the Vineyard Theatre off-Broadway and was a quick
hit with both critics and theatergoing urbanites, all of which took to the
grown-up life lessons that the show has to offer. Audiences continued to
grow when the little-show-that-could moved uptown, opening at Broadway's
Golden Theatre in the summer of 2003 to even more widespread rave reviews.
Tony voters agreed with the critics and awarded Avenue Q as the Best Musical
of the season as well as choosing to honor its young writers trophies for
Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical. Golden Theatre 252 West
45th Street. Tuesday-Saturday - 8PM Wednesday & Saturday - 2PM Sunday

Beauty
& The Beast |

Certain
stories carry on from generation to generation and earn the designation
"timeless" for good reason. Beauty and the Beast is one such story. Disney's

the castle walls. Brilliant adapted from the Academy Award-winning animated
film, this much-loved spectacle has thrilled more than 20 million people

will be broken and he will be transformed back to his former self. But time
is running out, and if the Beast does not learn his lesson, he will be doomed
for all eternity. Be our guest for a storybook theatrical experience your

Chicago |

Murder,
greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery--all those
things we hold near and dear to our hearts." So begins the musical Chicago--and
creators John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse never back off from their bold
and sinister promise. Chicago is the kiss-and-tell tale of Roxie Hart, a
chorus girl who kills her lover as a career move; Billy Flynn, a sharp lawyer
who turns Roxie into a celebrity; and Velma Kelly, a dancing jailbird with
an ear for headlines and an eye for talent. Chicago, winner of six 1997
Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, is a loving look back at vaudeville,
a timely satire of the justice system, and a reminder of what great theater
can be. Come see the stage version that grabbed Broadway's attention years
before the acclaimed film version made a killing at the Academy Awards.

Dirty
Rotten Scoundrels |
| |
Based on
the popular 1988 film that starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin, Dirty
Rotten Scoundrels is a raucous musical comedy centering on two con men
living in the French Riviera. The first, a small-time crook named Freddy
Benson, swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories
about his grandmother's failing health. The other is suave, sophisticated
con artist Lawrence Jameson, who also makes his living by talking rich
ladies out of their money, but on a much grander scale. After a fateful
meeting on a train, they unsuccessfully attempt to work together only
to find that this small French town isn't big enough for the two of them.
Rather than work together, they agree on a settlement: the first one to
extract $50,000 from a young female target wins, and the other must leave
town. A hilarious battle of cons ensues, bringing out the best and worst
in each man, along with a fun, unexpected twist that will keep audiences
laughing, humming and guessing to the end! Dirty Rotten Scoundrels reunites
members of the creative team who brought the comedy The Full Monty to
Broadway a few seasons back with such stunning results: composer/lyricist
David Yazbek, director Jack O'Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell.

favorites like Norbert Leo Butz, Sherie Rene Scott, Joanna Gleason and
Gregory Jbara and you've got a sure-to-be surefire Broadway hit! Imperial

Theatre Club to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. Ben Brantley of The New
York Times raves that the show is, "sharp, subtle and superb," and John

Movin'
Out |
| |
This
one-of-a-kind Tony winner tells an all-American story with the well-loved
songs of a pop icon.Rock and roll fans first got to know Brenda and Eddie
back in 1977, when a talented piano man from Long Island named Billy Joel
introduced the high school sweethearts in the song "Scene From An Italian
Restaurant" on his breakthrough album The Stranger. Now Brenda and Eddie
are on Broadway, along with a bunch of their friends, in the Tony-winning
musical Movin' Out. "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" as well as the complete
songbook of five-time Grammy winner Joel, which features countless story-driven
songs, inspired modern dance maestro Twyla Tharp. With Joel's blessing,
Tharp created her own story around the songs--of two turbulent American
decades for a group of lifelong friends--and brought it to the Broadway
stage to critical hosannas. Both Joel and Tharp won 2003 Tony Awards for
their work on Movin' Out, which has become a favorite for both fans of dance
and rock and roll in New York City and across the country thanks to a highly-successful
national tour. Featuring a remarkable cast of 27 and 24 Billy Joel classics
played by an electrifying onstage band, this unique musical takes us back
to a time we all remember, to the days when almost anything could happen,
to the nights when almost everything did. Richard Rodgers Theatre 226 West

The
Phantom of the Opera |
| |
Currently
the second longest-running show in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber's
The Phantom of the Opera has played to over 100 million people in 22 countries
in 113 cities around the world since its first performance. The New York
production alone has enchanted over 10 million audience members in its
nearly 17-year run. In The Phantom of the Opera, a young singer, Christine,
is charmed by a mysterious specter who haunts the Paris Opera house. Based
on Gaston Leroux's famous novel, the musical's tale begins as unexplained
accidents have been occurring throughout the Paris Opera, and the stuck-up
diva, Carlotta, refuses to go on. Christine takes her place and is a triumph.
At her opening night, she meets her childhood friend, Raoul. Alone in
her dressing room, she finally meets the Phantom who has taught her to
sing so beautifully. Taking her to his lair in the misty catacombs beneath
the Opera House, the Phantom declares his love for Christine, but she
soon learns his terrible secret. The story moves from the Phantom's underground
hideaway to the dizzying roof of the Opera House, as the Phantom and Raoul
battle for Christine's love. While a highly-anticipated big-screen version
by director Joel Schumacher hits movie theaters in December 2004, nothing
matches the spectacle of the Phantom live on stage. Majestic Theatre 247
West 44 Street. Monday & Wednesday-Saturday - 8PM Tuesday - 7pm Wednesday

(Biloxi Blues, Lost in Yonkers), the direction of Joe Mantello (Wicked,
Assassins, Take Me Out), and the star power of Nathan Lane and Matthew
Broderick? A guaranteed smash hit! Simon's play centers on a pair of desperately
mismatched roommates--one sloppy and one neat--who are arguably the most
memorable pair of characters that the successful playwright has ever written.
It debuted on Broadway in 1965 and spawned an extremely successful 1968
movie and sitcom that ran for five seasons.

The
Producers |
| |
Based
on the Academy Award-winning 1968 film of the same name, The Producers is
the story of down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock and Leo

more money than you need for a sure-fire Broadway fiasco...and pocket the
difference. Their Broadway brainchild is none other than Springtime for
Hitler. The Producers has become a Broadway phenomenon, turning the tradition

other show in the history of the Great White Way. With tunes and a book
by superstar comedian Mel Brooks and co-bookwriter Thomas Meehan (Hairspray),

husband George. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? first premiered on Broadway
in 1962 starring stage greats Uta Hagen and George Grizzard and going on
to win the Tony Award for Best Play the following year. The 1966 film version

Long
before Dorothy drops in, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with
emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful,
ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey

West and Glinda the Good Witch. This fantasy-filled musical was the winner

| Blue Man Group |
|
Blue
Man Group is one of New York's longest-running shows and one of
its hardest to describe! In the show, three enigmatic bald and blue
characters take the audience through a multi-sensory experience
that combines theater, percussive music, art, science and vaudeville
into a form of entertainment that is like nothing else either on
or off Broadway. The show's origins lead back to the late '80s,
when longtime friends Chris Wink, Phil Stanton and Matt Goldman
began to appear on the streets of Manhattan covered in blue make-up.

| Stomp |
|
Stomp
is a high-energy, percussive symphony, coupled with dance, played
entirely on unconventional instruments, such as garbage can lids,
buckets, brooms and sticks. It is a movement, of bodies, objects,
sounds - even abstract ideas, made completely original through the
use of everyday objects in totally non-traditional ways. Stomp creators
Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas were a group of street performers
commonly know as "buskers," who spent their time trying to grab
people's attention in Brighton, England. They toured the world with
their rhythmic antics, eventually landing full-force in downtown
Manhattan, where the show has been making people of all ages tap
(or stomp) their feet for over ten years. Don't miss it!
